Contract Award News - 7th May 2010
We have been awarded a £62k contract by ETDE Contracting Ltd for internal and external works to CPI Wilton's Industrial Biotech Demonstration facility in Redcar.
The project involves; external concrete slabs to the compound area and new bases to the Cooling Tower, Gas Storage and Demin Water Tanks. Internal works to the existing building include new concrete flooring to control room and dispensary, new ramps, bund walls and modification to the existing drainage channel.

We have been awarded a £250k subcontract by ETDE Contracting as part of their Omega 3 Capacity Expansion project at Croda Chemicals in Leek.
The works include the construction of reinforced concrete bases, bunds and access roads, in addition to various elements of drainage.

We have been awarded a £400k contract by Shropshire Council for Sheinton Bridge reconstruction.
The project involves the partial demolition and reconstruction of Sheinton Bridge in a Site of Special Scientific Interest area.
The bridge has been partially demolished down to springing level following its partial collapse. The bridge has been temporarily replaced with a Bailey Bridge and temproary road to the downstream of the existing structure.
It is proposed to demolish the remains of the previous structure. The structure will be replaced with a pre-cast concrete arch bridge on mass concrete foundations. The bridge will be clad with brick masonry, with stone masonry and reconstituted stone copings. Reinforced Concrete Cantilever gravity wings walls will be replaced with earthworks embankments.
The works include, but are not limited to, the reconstruction of the bridge including scaffolding, installing of a precast concrete arch system, in-situ concrete, waterproofing, brick cladding and carriageway renewal.
This will be the largest precast concrete Arch system bridge insllated on mainland UK.
British Safety Council International Safety Awards - April 2010
We are once again delighted to announce that Dew have won a British Safety Council International Safety Award for 2009. The award will be presented at a winners banquet, which will be held on Friday 21st May 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Contract News - 1st March 2010
We have been awarded a £1.1m contract by Tameside MBC for Ashton Northern Bypass Stage 2 Contract No. 1 for Retaining Walls.
The works comprise the construction of 5 no. separate reinforced concrete walls running alongside a railway line but not encroaching on Network Rail land. The wall is faced on the roadside by natural stonework and on the railway side with a patterned profile formwork to resemble a stonework facing.
Works commenced on the 1st March 2010 and are for a 6-month period.
Contract News - 26th October 2009
We have been awarded an £85k contract by Kier Construction as part of their First of Class Waste PFI project at Calder Vale Road in Wakefield.
The works include the supply and installation of steel drive piles, concrete pile caps and an insitu concrete pit to existing ground floor slab to accommodate a new Autoclave facility.
The works are due to commence on the 2nd November and with a 4-week construction programme should conclude on the 27th November.

Dew has been awarded a £950k contract for the communications upgrade of the M602 between Junctions 2 and 3.
The contract has been awarded through the Highways Agency, Area 10 CMF and our works include upgrading of the NMCS communications system including installation of Gantry mounted EMS, lane signals, MIDAS loops and directional signs.
The works are due to commence on the 6th October 2009 and with a 25-week construction programme, should conclude at the end of March 2010.

Dew has been awarded a £2.6m contract by the Highways Agency for the Hard Shoulder Strengthening works on the M6 between Junctions 14 and 16.
The contract (Phase 1 of 3) has been awarded through the Area 9 CMF and our works include the construction of approximately 100 recessed gullies, verge excavation and regrading, centre reserve excavation and fill, installation of 34 manholes and construction of a 1.5m wide slipform V Channel.
The works are due to commence on the 28th September 2009 and with an 8-week construction programme working 24 hours, should conclude at the end of November 2009.
Contract News - 15th September 2009
Dew has been awarded a contract for the partial replacement of Hydes Road Bridge, a road bridge over the River Tame in Sandwell, West Bromwich.
As main contractor we will be employed directly by Sandwell MBC with works including the provision of a new precast prestressed concrete (PPC) beam deck founded on micro piles, concrete repairs, waterproofing, ned pedestrian guard and surfacing.
The works are due to commence on the 21st September and with a 14-week construction programme, should conclude shortly after Christmas.

Dew has been awarded a further contract by Costain on their £397 million Greater Manchester Waste contract for new and improved facilities at 28 waste stations.
The contract for several reinforced concrete structures at Reliance Street, Newton Heath, Manchester started on the 1st September and is due to be complete by mid December 2009.

Contract News - 10th August 2009
We have been awarded an extension to our current contract on the Greater Manchester Waste project at Arkwright Street.
The second-phase works, involving the construction of concrete yard slabs, associated drainage and surfacing, will involve a two-week overlap with the first-phase and continue for approximately three weeks thereafter. The concurrent working offers our client, Costain, the opportunity to make time savings on an increasingly demanding programme.
Contract News – 21st July 2009
Following on from our very successful completion of the Highways Agency Area 9 Contract at the M50 Queenhill Viaduct Phase 1 – Westbound Carriageway earlier this year, we have now been awarded the Contract for Phase 2 of the Scheme, this time on the Eastbound Carriageway.
The Contract Value is £1.3m, and we have been asked to commence on site on the 3rd August 2009, 4 weeks earlier than anticipated. Including that extra 4 weeks, the works are programmed to run for some 23 weeks duration.
The scope of works is almost a mirror image of Phase 1, consisting of general civils works, break out and renewal of the concrete verges, concrete repairs to the deck (by others) and the installation of new parapets and railings, together with ancillary works for the attendant services.
Phase 2 will conclude the complete upgrade to an ageing viaduct over the River Severn which was originally construction in the 1960’s.

We have been awarded a contract on the Highways Agency Area 9 Framework at M42 Junction 5 Southbound which will commence Monday 1st August 2009.
The current scope of works is programmed for 13-weeks duration and includes local widening work at the exit around the slip road, sheet pile retaining wall, associated drainage work, modifications to the existing sign gantries, the provision of new signs and safety fencing removal and reinstatement.
The scheme designed by Mouchel is a pilot scheme to enable through running of the junction when the hard shoulder is being utilised during rush hour traffic and other congested times. We have been awarded a £770k contract on the Highways Agency Area 10 Framework at M61 Junction 4 which commenced on Monday 18th May 2009.
The current scope of works is programmed for 18-weeks duration and includes central reserve hardening to the M61 between Junctions 3 & 4 to facilitate a concrete safety fence, re-grading the batter, concrete repairs to two footbridges and also drainage works which includes a 5m deep shaft which will be undertaken in collaboration with DCT Civil Engineering.

Contract News - 2nd February 2009
We have been awarded a £560k contract from the Highways Agency under our Framework Contract for Area 9.
The project title is A49 Dorrington Village and commences 2nd February 2009 for a period of 14-weeks. The site is on the A49 in Dorrington, Shrewsbury.
The works consist of general civil works including new 375mm carriageway drainage, replacement traffic signs and posts, new kerbing and repairs to existing drainage by Pipe Lining.

We have been awarded a £250k contract from the Highways Agency under our Framework Contract for Area 10.
The project title is M53 Bidston Leasowe and commences 5th January 2009 for a period of 12-weeks. The site is on the M53 located between junctions 1 and 2.
The works consist fo general civil works including parapet replacement and replacement plug joints.

We have been awarded a £630k contract from the Highways Agency under our Framework Contract for Area 9.
The Project Title is M5 Junction 4 - 4a and commences 5th January 2009 for a period of 24 weeks. The site is on the M5 at Junction 4.
The works consist of demolition of 54 no. retaining walls and replacement of interlocking blockwork walls, removal and reinstatement of market posts, replacement signs, providing new road lighting and resurfacing 4km of carriageway.
